Yahoo mail is one of the most used email service used over
the world. There are millions of users all over the world that uses yahoo mail
service to send and receive emails.
User can configure MS Outlook with yahoo mail, to check and
compose emails. Yahoo mail plus provide pop3 access only if user made a paid
subscription to the service it use.
Requirement to configure MS Outlook with Yahoo Mail
- User must have Emails account on yahoo.com
- User system must have MS Outlook installed
Configure MS Outlook
with Yahoo Mail Plus
- Go to "Start"--->"All programs"---> click "Microsoft Office"---> Open "MS Outlook"
- Click on "Tools" tab in menu, then click on "Account Settings"
- Click on "New" under "Email"
- Enable "Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP" and click "Next"
- Enable "Manually configure server settings or additional server types", then click "Next"
- Enable "Internet E-mail" and click "Next"
- Fill User Information
Your Name: Enter name
E-mail Address: Enter E-mail address which users want to
configure with MS Outlook
- Enter Server Information
Account Type: POP3
Incoming mail server: pop.mail.yahoo.com or
plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
- Logon Information
Username: Enter Username of Email account
Password: Enter Password of Email account
Remember password: its optional, user can enable remember
password if user want to remember password or disable if user doesn’t want to
remember password.
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): it’s
optional
- Click "More Settings"
- Click on "Outgoing Server" tab
Enable "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
Also enable "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
- Click on "Advanced Tab"
Incoming server (POP3): 995
This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL): Optional
Outgoing server (SMTP): 587 or 25 (if using SSL: 465)
Use encrypted connection TCS (if SSL not applicable)
- Click "Ok", then "Next" and finally "Finish"
Configure Outlook with Yahoo Mail
Users can easily configure to MS Outlook even though they
are not subscribe to paid service.
Steps:
- Open "MS Outlook"
- Click "Account Settings" from "Tools" tab in menu
- Click "Email" and click on "New"
- Enable "Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP" option, then click "Next"
- Enable "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" and click "Next"
- Enable "Internet E-mail", then click "Next"
- Enter User Information
Your Name: Name of the user
E-mail Address: Enter E-mail address that user want to
configure with MS Outlook
- Fill Server Information
Account Type: IMAP
Incoming mail server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
- Enter Logon Information
Username: Enter Email account Username
Password: Enter Email account Password
Remember password: optional
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): optional
- Click "More Settings"
- Click "Outgoing Server" tab
My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: Enable
Use same settings as my incoming mail server: Enable it, if
not enabled
- Click "Advanced" Tab
Incoming server (IMAP): 993
This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL): its optional,
user can enable it as well as disable it
Outgoing server (SMTP): 587 or 25 (for SSL: 465)
Use following type encrypted connection TCS (when SSL is not
applicable)
- Click "OK"
- Click "Next"
- Click "Finish"
